Zeltia was founded over 60 years ago. Since its foundation, it has always been involved in the chemical-pharmaceutical sector. During these years it has incorporated different subsidiaries, it has taken shares in other companies (Antibióticos,S.A in 1949) and it has participated in Joint Ventures with different multinationals (ICI Zeltia, S.A., ICI Pharma, S.A. or Cooper Zeltia, S.A.).

Zeltia has been listed on the stock exchange since 1963 and in the continuous market since 1998. The Group is currently composed of 5 companies, which belong to two different sectors:

The Biopharmaceutical Sector, composed of PharmaMar; Genómica, specialising in analysis and diagnosis using DNA; Noscira, devoted to the discovery and development of drugs to treat nervous system diseases, in particular Alzheimer's disease; and Sylentis, focused on research into new therapeutic approaches based on the techniques of gene silencing(RNA interference , RNAi). All these companies are wholly owned by Zeltia, with the exception of Noscira, of which it owns 59%.

The Large Consumption Chemical Sector to which Zelnova and Xylazel belong, two very profitable companies that constitute Zeltia's assets in the large consumption chemical sector. Zelnova is market leader in Spain in the manufacture and sale of insecticides and air fresheners for the home. Xylazel specialises in the manufacture and sale of wood protection paints and varnishes for professionals and DIY. Both companies are wholly owned by Zeltia.
